  • Cape of Good Hope Tavel Guide

The Cape of Good Hope is a rocky headland on the Atlantic coast of the Cape Peninsula. Commonly called Cape Point, includes awesome scenery, fantastic walks and often deserted beaches, some 250 species of birds live here. Many people visit on organised bus tours but, if you have the time, exploring the reserve on foot or by bicycle is much more rewarding. Please note that there is minimal shade and that the weather can change quickly. Plan a picnic in the park or on the beach, hike or mountain bike, have lunch in the delicious Two Oceans Restaurant high above the crashing waves of False Bay, or simply catch The Flying Dutchman funicular to some superb lookout points over the Atlantic Ocean. Apart from the spectacular view, you’ll be able to see the most powerful lighthouse on the South African coast, which helps guide ships safely through perilous waters that have seen to the end of many a vessel.
