The official language is Spanish, but it has some indigenous languages influences, such as the "s" at the end of Spanish words replacing it with an "h". However, many Afro-Nicaraguans and creoles speak English and Creole as their first language in the Caribbean coast, and Spanish just as a second language.

Miskito, Sumo, Rama and Garifuna are their indigenous languages, and Miskito language is the most widely spoken by Nicaragua, especially in the North Atlantic Autonomous Region.
